Dean’s Green Beans
Always Fresh
When we first started talking about our concept of fresh foods and a southern comfort foods restaurant, of course green beans came into play in the conversation. As I spoke with various suppliers about this they would make comments like, “We have a great Italian cut green bean that would work for you”.
Of course they meant canned, and my immediate response was “No Way!”.
I wanted to provide fresh green beans for as much of the year as possible. People thought I was crazy. You have to string them and there is no way that you can keep up with that, they would say. I said “Of course you have to string them, that’s part of the beauty of the bean.” It just seemed that everyone would come up with excuses as to why we couldn’t do it.
So I set out on a mission to provide my customers with fresh green beans all the time. And guess what? We have done it.
Most of our beans come from South Georgia, but during the summer months we get them from right here in East Tennessee. Surprisingly in the months from December through February we get some of the prettiest hand picked White Half Runners out of Mexico. They are always beautiful.
So if you are eating green beans at Dean’s you can guarantee that they are always fresh. We serve both White Half Runners and occasionally a Pole Bean. Both are great and I absolutely love the fact that we can provide fresh green beans year around.
